Our speaker was Mehdi Haghshenas, a friend of Rotarian Aziz Saleh. He is involved in a number of charitable endeavors in our community and around the world. He spoke to us about a program that he is involved in that provides free healthcare to children with congenital heart disease in different countries. The doctors come from different countries to provide the surgeries to help these children. He was involved with the founding of the hospital in Fiji that handles these types of surgeries. He also told us about programs providing free education and nutrition for children in India. All of these programs have corporate sponsors to cover the costs. Mehdi showed some videos of their work, including one about the Heart to Heart Foundation, which provides the life-saving heart surgeries, one of a news story about the hospital in India where the surgeries take place – its building is in the shape of a heart, and one of the hospital in Fiji and it’s successful surgeries.
