Fellow Rotarian Mike Capps is the Director of Broadcasting for the Round Rock Express, serving that capacity since the founding of the team. He is also an experienced news reporter, winner of several prestigious awards, and published author. As a member of the Rotary Club of Austin, he has been active with the Camp Enterprise program. Mike’s presentation first emphasized the unique spirit of the Express as evidenced in fan support of the team and of individual achievement, and also in the many family activities and extracurricular activities. There is a Kid’s Club, Fireworks on Friday, Baseball Camp, Bark at the Park, special promotions, even $1 hot dogs! There are brew reviews, wine tasting, Winning Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays, Military Appreciation Nights, and many, many other special events. He then noted a few examples of the great percentage of World Series players over the years who have either been on or played against the Express team. And finally Mike told the personal stories of a few individual players who exhibited awesome perseverance, or good common sense, and or extraordinary character.
