Karina Franco Rodriguez spoke to us about "Seniors Helping Seniors."  Karina was a caregiver to husband after he got out of the military, which led her to seek work that would allow her to give back to others.  That is how she found Seniors Helping Seniors, which has franchises around the United States.  The founder of Seniors Helping Seniors determined that matching a senior caregiver with a senior who needs assistance can create a perfect match as the two are closer in age and have more in common.  Seniors Helping Seniors hires active seniors to be caregivers. Karina’s company has caregivers ranging in age from the 40s to the 70s.  Her caregivers provide companionship, run errands, provide transportation to appointments, and do light housekeeping. They also help dementia patients with their daily needs.  Seniors Helping Seniors has a training process that looks for the right people who want to make a difference by caring for others.  Karina’s franchise is focused on north Austin and the Williamson County areas and currently has 45 clients.  They work with VA and long-term care insurance for payment and also take private payment.  Most of her clients have caregivers who come for a few hours a week or help with transportation.  What a wonderful service Karina is providing to the community!
