Our speaker for last week's (January 3) meeting was Lu Zeidan from iACT.  She gave us an update on iACT, with the focus on the iACT refugee settlement program. She reported that numbers of refugees relocating to the US are significantly down because of the reduced refugee ceiling of 45,000 for the current fiscal year and the dissolution  of the Central American Minors Program. Lu said she also was concerned that further reductions to nonprofits serving refugee relocation could result in the elimination of of those agencies.

Pictured below, Ms. Zeidan accepts a check from Shirley Dean and President Ben Carssow, for funds raised by our club's "Pastries for Peace" auction, to assist the refugee family we have "adopted."
