Rhonda Jones spoke to us about the Austin ISD’s ACE after-school program, which is for Title I schools and is funded through grants. The program supports over 30,000 students from K to 12th grade and is free program. It provides support in reading and math as well as enrichment programs in extracurricular activities. ACE brings in other groups such as Scouting to help with its enrichment programs. It also partners with local businesses to provide to support for the students and their families such as financial literacy programs. They want to help develop the whole child. Rhonda told us how Ed Grune’s Scouting after-school program is part of what ACE does. She also said that Rotarians could assist by sharing their talents in academics or enrichment at no cost and joining in family enrichment days such as campus clean ups and community clean ups.
