On March 29, President Sally reviewed the results of the membership survey. The top two requests from the membership were more service projects and more social events. Sally asked us what type of service projects we would like. Dan Bernbaum mentioned being in contact the St. Louis Cathedral about helping out with their food bank. One Saturday between 12 noon and 3pm was suggested and Sally is going to send an email with proposed dates. Other ideas included the Helping Hands Home (from Miriam), reading the students at Hart Elementary or Blanton Elementary (Beth), Meals on Wheels (Shirley), and working with the Univ of Texas Rotaract Club to clean up at local park (Shirley). Social ideas suggested by the members were: a wine tasting event, ice cream social, pizza in the park, Round Rock Express baseball game in April or May, social at the Austin Zoo, and social event at Westminster with Ernie and Shirley. Shirley also mentioned offsite visits to the businesses of our members.
Beth Siever also reported that she is working to get scholarship information for us, and Frank reported that $2,000 is available for vocational scholarships this year.
Our 5th Fiesta Fundraiser is taking place this year in May – dated to be determined after talking to Lupe. Proposing a Taco Tuesday theme for the food. The funds will go towards the club’s Rise Against Hunger project. We will need silent auction items and volunteers to sell tickets at other club meetings and to friends and family.
