August 10 - Global Service Experience

Jennifer Graham of the Rotary Club of Temple spoke to us about the Global Service Experience. She is the district chair for this project and led a team of four young people to The Republic of the Philippines earlier this year. Each team member had to have Rotary experience, such as RYLA, Rotaract, Interact, or Youth Exchange. Jennifer was the team leader of the Group Study Exchange team to The Philippines three years ago and wanted to go back and do things instead of just seeing them. She showed us pictures and told us of their experiences this year and the changes it made an all of the team members. They helped out with many services projects, experienced culture shock, and learned to navigate around the country on their own. District 5870 plans to send another team back to the Philippines in February and is looking for qualified applications for the team. Details can be found on the District 5780 website.
