Barry Cogbill is the International Projects Chair of the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa East, California and shared with us his story and the projects that his club is sponsoring in Africa and Asia. Barry has been a Rotarian since 2013 and the International chair for his club since 2015. He is heading toward a Rotary project fair in Kenya where projects are presenting to Rotarians to see if they would work for a global grant. One of the first project’s the Santa Rosa Club did was with a 2017 district grant that provided solar cookers for school in Uganda, which saves money and reduces the carbon footprint from burning wood. One of their new projects is called “Nourishing bellies and brains” - it’s global grant for school kids in eastern Uganda to provide food and solar cookers to 3 villages and 2700 kids. Barry told us about how projects belong to the local communities led by host clubs and funded internationally.
