Rotarian Beth Siever spoke to us about her experiences battling leukemia. After feeling unwell for several weeks, she was diagnosed around the first of April. Beth described how she was diagnosed and her journey through various hospitals until she ended up with a good set of doctors at St. David’s South. There she was told that her version of acute leukemia was curable. She spent six weeks in the hospital having treatments. Now she is on a follow up program to make certain that her leukemia does not recur. With the additional treatments, there is 98% chance she is fully cured. Beth discussed how she coped with her diagnosis and the treatment regimen. As she underwent multiple blood transfusions, she encouraged all of to donate blood. It was good to see Beth and hear her story! Beth is a long-time Rotarian, having joined the Rotary Club of North Austin in 1994. She has held numerous positions in both the Rotary Club of North Austin and the Rotary Club of Austin - NxNE, including Club President and Club Secretary. She currently leads our club's scholarship program. Beth is also active in community affairs, including volunteering with her local church.
