Bob Saul, a seventh generation Texan, grew up in the canyons of the Texas panhandle, became a computer businessman in the canyons of New York City, eventually returned to his Texas homeland, and through it all was, and is, a historian. With excellent graphics he told us his story and also an outline of the story of the Comanches, specifically beginning with Cynthia and her son, Quanah Parker. A modest beginning of interviews with some of Quanah’s descendants has grown into a significant documentary that debuts in the spring of 2019. In preparation for those showings, he and his wife and business partner, Nancy, are accomplishing the project through the support of many volunteers. They are currently looking for a volunteer coordinator for the Austin area, someone who can locate venues (from as small as 50 seats on up) and coordinate the logistics of the showing. If any of you readers have a name to suggest, contact Bob (see below). This documentary is certainly something NOT to be missed. In addition, there are several corollary projects—all that dedicate considerable percentage of income to a museum, the production of a full scale movie of Bill Neeley’s biography of Quanah Parker, The Last Comanche Chief, or to the tribe itself. The great interest shown by the club members was evident for the number who lingered for questions and conversation long after the meeting ended.
