Taylor Caranfa Stover, General Manager of the Northwest Austin & Lake Travis/Westlake editions of the Community Impact newspaper spoke to us about the history of the newspaper. The newspaper was started by John and Jennifer Garnett in 2005 when they were unable to find information about “what was happening in their own backyard.” Their mission is to “provide trusted news and local information” that is easily digestible and understandable. They send papers to every residential box in each of their edition’s areas. They now have a total circulation of 2,514,238 across Texas with over 200 employees. They have grown from one metro area and one edition to 4 metro areas and 35 plus editions. 98% of their revenue comes from advertising so that everyone receives the print copy for free. They also have digital content on their website and an emailed newsletter that can be subscribed to. For more information go to www.communityimpact.com.
