Our exchange student from Spain, Pedro Climent, was our speaker on October 23rd. His host family is Allison and Frank Ivy. Allison told us about taking Pedro Climent to UT Football games and other outdoor activities. Pedro is from Vigo, a city in the province of Pontevedra in Galicia that is situated in the north-west of Spain, on the coast of Vigo Bay. Pedro showed a slide show of his family. His parents are doctors and he has a brother and a sister. He also showed us were Vigo is located on the coast, which makes it an important port in Spain. Pedro spent a little discussing the unrest in Cataluna (Catalonia) where there has been a referendum vote for independence and protests and politicians who supported the independence movement have been jailed. Pedro enjoys soccer and is planning to try out for the Westwood HS soccer team in the Spring. He took questions from the members as well as telling us about his home country. We all hope Pedro enjoys the rest of his stay with us!
