Last week, 2021-22 President Rich presented a moving program with a calm, mature, and friendly demeanor and without notes. He began at the beginning—with his first introduction to Rotary through his Scout troop service projects, probably about 13 years old at the time. He mentioned by name the several projects he experienced beginning with landscaping at Safe Place. Rich then began going to Rotary meetings with his Dad and eventually was taken into club membership as a surprise. He attended Board meetings as a way to learn and continued to participate in the club’s service projects. By then he had graduated from high school, entered the Marines, survived boot camp, and learned about leadership and teamwork. He continued to support and participate in club projects, serving as RYLA coordinator until the Covid pandemic. Rich continues in the Reserves, a dedicated Marine, morally committed to the defense of the Constitution. He says that same moral commitment is extended to Rotary because he believes that deeply in Rotary. He admits his work as Club President is unfinished and vowed to continue work on our social media presence and the website and to support incoming President Sally in her goals.
