Installation of 2022-23 Board
New Member Markus Overheu
At the first meeting of the new Rotary year, Judge Richard Scott inducted President Sally Hood and the new board and officers for the 2022-23 Rotary year. After the installation, President Sally showed a clip of RI President Jennifer Jones revealing her theme for the Rotary year - “Imagine Rotary.” President Sally would like us to imagine what our club can do for the community and the world. She would like us to “Imagine, create, then do!” She told us that District Governor Shannon Coleman will be visiting the club on August 10th and as part of that meeting we will have a service project putting together backpacks for school children. She asked some of the officers and board members to tell us about their positions and goals for the year. Frank Ivy discussed his roles and treasurer and Rotary foundation chair. He would like our club to have everyone donate to the Rotary Foundation and told us what those funds can do for the local community and world-wide. He’s also looking for a new treasurer to replace him in a few years as his duties at the district level increase. Dan Bernbaum is our membership chair this year and discussed having hands-on service projects as a way to recruit new members. George Linial is our president elect and wants to support Sally in any way he can and help the club accomplish a lot as a small group. Karen Bogisch discussed her new role as secretary and is looking for help with our social media presence. Ben Carssow is one of our board members; he plans to help with speakers and wants the North Austin Rotary Foundation to be more a part of the club. Tink Hill is also on the board and was enthusiastic about the what the club does and wants to keep it going. Past President Rich Hill thanked the club and board for all we did for his Rotary year and said he will help with social media. At the end of the meeting, Sally presented Rich with his past president’s plaque and Markus Overheu was inducted as our newest member.
