Before the speakers' presentations, we had a fabulous rendition of Happy Birthday for George Linial, sung by Ed Grune! Then President Michael gave us an update with regards to planned activities for his Rotary year, as follows:
*Sunshine basket recipients have been approved by the board for all months except April, where we are looking for an environmental related charity.
*The 2026-27 Budget has been approved.
*Taco Tuesday has been approved for the last Tuesday of each month at Casa Chapala.
*Bring a Friend to Rotary will be on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
*Ed Grune plans to bring back Karaoke once a quarter.
*We will have a Club Assembly once a quarter.
*Ed Grune is putting together a song book, so perhaps we will become a singing Rotary club soon!
*Recognition of birthdays has resumed.
*The Board will be reviewing the Club's goals monthly.
*There will be a volunteer opportunity at the St. Louis Catholic Church food bank the 4th Saturday of each month.
*President Michael has set up an attendance drawing that will happen at the end of each month; the more you attend the better your chances become.
*The Club is looking at highlighting member businesses on a regular basis.
Frank Ivy was our second presenter of the day. He gave a slide presentation of the District Conference Cruise and Service Projects. He showed slides of his and Allison's activities on the ship. Once they got to Cozumel, the Rotarians split up into smaller groups to take part in various service projects on the island. Frank and Allison helped paint cement picnic benches at a local school and were also present for the installation of a Peace Pole at an intersection in Cozumel. Their time on the island was wrapped up with a meal at local restaurant, whose owners are friends with DG Jeff and PDG Shannon Coleman.
