Amanda Bruner is certified as a Personal Trainer and as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and is currently the Wellness Coordinator at Westminster Manor.   Amanda spoke to us about how get into an exercise routine and stick with it.   She told us everyone should get at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, and she also described what low, moderate and high intensity workouts are. Amanda had 9 tips for getting into an exercise routine:
1) Pick something you enjoy to create your exercise routine
2) Be positive and reward yourself
3) Set S.M.A.R.T. goals - make them specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely
4) Don’t be so hard on yourself; if you miss a day, jump back in routine; long term consistency is the goal
5) Hold yourself accountable
6) track your workouts using a fitness tracker that is easy, versatile and useful - mapmyfitness and my fitness pal are two good ones.
7) Exercise with a friend; you will be less likely to skip and will workout longer
8) Schedule workouts at a time that works best for you
9) Reframe what you think is exercise- Anything is better than nothing - take stairs vs elevator
