Global Grant Projects - October 26 Speaker
On October 26, Monique Hodges, the president of the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club updated us on two Rotary global grants that her club has set up with the support of our club and other District 5870 clubs. The first project is the Kenya water well project. This past global grant provided for a new water well for a village school in Kenya. Since it has been drilled, the water well has helped with crops for the local school, has reduced the amount of time it takes to get water, and supplies water to a local clinic. The 2015-16 project is to provide toilet facilities for eight schools in Kenya. The Cosmopolitan club is working with Austin organization, Nobility Project, which can help oversee the project with people on the ground. The local sponsoring club is the Rotary Club of Naivasha. The project has a budget of $120,000 and will provide two separate latrines at each school. The Rotary Club of Austin - North by Northeast is proud to help support this project.
