Our speaker on February 22 was Chivas Watson, who is the founder of a local civil rights group, Working Group 512, which seeks to improve the delivery of justice by being involved in community issues. Chivas was discharged from parole in 2021, and continues to help with the integration process for individuals after prison. He was an 2021 inaugural fellow of the African American Leadership Institute, an Indigent Defense fellow with Houston-area nonprofit Pure Justice, and a 2022 candidate in the Black Gold National Leadership Election.
