The November 1 program was the official visit to our club by District Governor Gene Holiman. District Governor Gene outlined his goals and visions for the clubs in our district for the current Rotary year. Foremost among his goals is for each club to realize a net membership increase of at least one new member. He also emphasized participation in service projects, attendance at annual District events, Foundation giving, and public relations. He noted that the District exists mainly to help individual clubs, and encouraged clubs to take advantage of training and other benefits offered by the District.
Gene's wife, Kathleen, has taken on Polio Plus giving as a special project this year, and she spoke briefly to urge continued contributions by our membership to Polio Plus. Our "Sunshine Basket" collections for the day were dedicated to Polio Plus, and she left behind a piggy bank, for our club to use for Polio Plus contributions for the remainder of the year.
Following the regular meeting, DG Gene met with the NXNE Rotary Board of Directors.
