DG Jerry Chapman spoke to the club about his Rotary story.  At age 16, his parents relocated their business to Mineral Wells, Texas, where he graduated from high school. During high school he met a teenage survivor of polio.  Many years later when he had moved to Lago Vista and was looking for a service club through which he could meet new people, he chose Rotary over the Lions Club because of its polio eradication efforts.  DG Jerry also talked about membership and how to bring in members. Rotary is a membership organization that does humanitarian and service work. We all need to figure out how to retain members. DG Jerry says get them excited and involved and explain what the Rotary Foundation does and what $2/week or $100/year can do. Share how Rotary changes lives.  DG Jerry shared his Rotary stories, we all should be proud to be a Rotarian and share our Rotary stories.  The Foundation dinner is taking place on February 2 and the RI president will be attending. The 1st weekend of May is the District Conference in San Antonio and DG Jerry would like to plan a Rise for Hunger project during conference with our club taking the lead with that project.
