Amy Allen introduced an organization many of us knew little about. Austin Community Foundation’s mission is to “bring together philanthropists, dollars, and ideas to make Austin a better place.” They are continually collecting data, bringing funders, leaders, and organizations together, and using their ideas and collected data to guide their philanthropy. Summarized: “Our philanthropy is data-driven and community led.” Some of their areas of focus are economic security, affordable housing, COVID relief and vaccine equity, and 2021 winter storm relief. This work is accomplished through a variety of funding approaches: modern giving accounts, donor advised fund, signature fund, corporate giving fund, field of interest funds, designated funds, scholarship funds, fiscal sponsorships agency endowments, and agency investment funds, Hispanic impact fund, and women’s fund. Amy was enthusiastic and quite positive, well-prepared and answered questions appropriately, and most inspiring.
