Our five scholarship recipients from Anderson High School were presented with certificates last week and spoke to us about themselves and their plans for the future. 
 
Lily Hunter moved to Austin in 8th grade.  She plans to go to UT and study education.  Lily also loves to travel and has visited 15 countries.
 
Ruth Kumar grew up India and moved to Austin just before the Covid pandemic began.  She went through the early graduation program at Anderson High and plans to study nursing at Texas State University.
 
 
Kelsey Lind was born and raised in Austin. She has been a swim coach while in high school and plans to study psychology and film at the University of Arizona.
 
Helen Payan was also born and raised in Austin.  She is going to study business and political science at Tulane and plans to go to law school.
 
Owen Shafer was born and raised in Austin as well.  He has been very entrepreneurial while growing up; starting a number of small businesses and has a podcast and YouTube channel. He also played basketball at Anderson HS. He will be attending UT and studying business.
 
Three of our scholarship recipients are Interact club members at Anderson High School and were encouraged to find Rotaract club to join while they are in college. Each of these well deserving students will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Bartz funds that are held by the North Austin Rotary Foundation.
