On March 31st, we did not have an official speaker. However, we did have a Zoom visit from Mike Wray and Nancy Ray from West Austin Rotary Club. Mike Wray is the current president of their club and the visited to see how our hybrid Zoom and in-person meeting works. They have been meeting on Zoom since last April and described how they start their meeting at 11:30 with breakout rooms with groups of 3 to 4 people so that they can visit in smaller groups before the meeting starts. Their Zoom meetings have allowed them to get dynamic speakers from all over the country, and they have been doing joint club meetings a club in Iola, Kansas that meets on the same day. It was interesting to hear how they are currently handling their club meetings.
We also had a number of announcements about upcoming events as follows:
April 7th – Putting together bags for the homeless. Bring your donations of items. Will also be buying items with funds raised over the month of March - $779.00.
April 10th District Assembly – virtual conference – 8:30-1pm
April 17th club picnic at NW Park.
April 24th Rise Against Hunger Project by Austin Club at Casa Chapala. Two sessions – one for Austin Club and one for other clubs in the area.
District Conference May 14-16.
Cinco de Mayo club dinner and fundraiser – looking at Thursday, May 20th.
